Title: The Rubik's Cube Topic
Post by: raul7legend on April 10, 2012, 09:44:07 pm
I've recently got back into cube solving (I've been solving cubes for 1.5 years now :)) and I've been wondering if anyone here is also into cube solving like I am. I have a 3x3 and a 4x4. I use the 4LLL method, and at the moment I am learning full CFOP method. (Still working at it though)
My record solve on a 3x3 is 25.72 seconds, and my record solve on a 4x4 is 3 miniutes and 34.79 seconds.
Here's an example solve of mine, I solved it in 42.79 - http://youtu.be/kI8PRGLDOTc (Sorry that you can't hear me very well)
I use cubetimer for the scramble algorithms and to time my solves - www.cubetimer.com (http://www.cubetimer.com)

If anyone is interested in learning on how to solve a rubiks cube, use badmephisto's method on how to solve a Rubik's Cube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=609nhVzg-5Q). The most popular method is the Dan Brown method, I do not think it's a good method and I don't think you should learn it.

Happy cubing!

I am a complete noob  but I really want to get better at it.
I have not solved one, but I have been close. I own a 3x3.

nice pun with the t shirt

Cool.

I can't even complete one.....no matter how hard i try....

I remember how my sister once tried to "complete" it and ended up peeling the stickers and replacing them all so it looks like she finished it. Of course, she cheated and ruined my Rubik's cube so I went and bought another.

I still haven't solved one but I, like Salas said, "have been close".

im so pro. i can solve it in less than a minute.
all you ahve to do is peel the stickers off :P
LOLOL but anyways i tried solving it legit once, i got
3 of 4 sides done, and then i screwed up and couldnt work it out..

EDIT: yes i did throw it after that, and yes it did break >.>

Just saying, if you want to cheat, don't pull the stickers out. It will rust out the stickers and make them nonstick.
You can use this tutorial if you want to cheat. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&src_vid=tOgN7d1D-3s&annotation_id=annotation_175699&v=_1BbZqu4xxQ)
It isn't really satisfying cheating, I believe you should learn how to solve normally.

WTF?!?!?
HOW DID you do that!?
For over 5 YEARS, i've been stuck on this 1 Rubik's cube!

I can't figure out how to solve a 1x1x1 rubik's cube. hahaha

For some reason everyone in my school started doing this rubik's cube so I gave it a shot and tbh it's not that hard lol.

First time I ever solved the cube it took me about 8 minutes to solve it.
It's all about practice people, just keep on revising the algorithms and you will get better at it :)

What you guys aren't realizing is it's not about randomly turning the cube like most people do. There's a technique based on how many sides it has to solve it. As for getting it done in less than a day, it's very easy. Once you reach the under a minute mark though, people start greesing their cubes for faster/smoother flipping.  :o

Not really sides, people usually work in layers.
As for greasing the cube, you open the cube and put silicone spray inside it like I did, and it runs much much faster.

Didn't mean to type in sides, I was aiming for size.. I need to stop typing things when I'm tired. :'(
