What state is the project in, and what are your plans for its future, if any: At present the "Club Dark" building is nearing completion, and the islands have been cleared and terraformed.  I've built a number of structures on the island and they continue to go up at roughly 1 building every day or two.  I will continue building all of the structures, streets, and decorations myself.  I've also populated the islands with villagers to give it the feeling of being "alive".

Why should we grant this project protection?  The project has surpassed my ability to protect it with protection stones.  As I will be using the village as a Role Play destination, it'll need protected.  In addition, I've noticed player structures beginning to appear near the border of the protection I've outlined, and it's only a matter of time before someone builds inside the boundaries, forcing me to kick them back out.  Oh!  Last but not least, I think it's horrible for a Canadian flag to have a PS in the middle of it.   ;)

Additional Notes:  I have placed four corner "markers" to outline where I need the sky-bedrock protection to cover, to make it extremely easy for whomever sets up the protection.  The first corner post is located (at -926, 75, 938) just off the edge of Club Dark's island and will direct you to the next, and so on.  I will be continuously posting "reply" messages to this topic, with updates on the project.

Thanks everyone!  Fingers crossed!

Added the start of the village tonight.  Took over an hour to level the area, but the streets went in pretty quick after that.  I'm trying to keep the shape of the island natural, even though it's being leveled.

Anyone who wants to help out, needs wood or jungle saplings, and wants to help remove the "forest" is Ok to do so.  All I ask is you leave the GIANT (over 15 blocks tall) trees, as I have already demonstrated, but the rest (including the ground leaves) can be cleared.

I've placed a chest with Shovels, Axes, and Pickaxes for those who want to help out.  I've also built an incinerator to clear inventories with.  Remember!  Leave the GIANT trees alone, but the rest can go!   :D

Agreed, It's growing beyond my ability to protect it.  That said, it won't grow past the borders I've selected.



UPDATE:

New picture!  I went to camp today, but was still able to get a lot of work done!  Thanks to ScottishChamp, a good chunk was cleared.  Still a long way to go, but I got the first house built and some streets installed.  Even put in another little bridge.  I'm keeping the area natural, as far as the shapes of the islands go, and there is a natural river running right through the middle that I intend to make the focal point of the town/village.  Here's the latest picture!

UPDATE:

Ok!  So with a lot of help there was quite a bit of work done today!  Thanks so much for everyone who came over and volunteered their time!  I'll definately be putting all of your names on a "contributors" list in-game once the main hall is built.  There's so much that changed today I actually have to show a series of pictures, with descriptions, so here goes;

The work today started here, with the removal of a large hill that was blocking the southern end of the bridge.  Once the hill was removed the road was put in.  Then work started on a second hill, which was lowered quite a bit and leveled to form a house platform, complete with a wishing well.

The work then moved on to leveling and shaping the largest mountain on the island.  This took a very long bit of work, but with the help of 85USMC94 it was completed in just over an hour.  Plans now are to cover the top of the hill with some kind of temple.  Cora is currently coming up with a design idea.

Next came the clearing of a large forest area.  Thankfully there wasn't much of a terrain difference here, it was just a lot of brush clearing that TheOne7142 was more than happy to assist with.

With the help of TheWholeLoaf and TheRealFamous we ripped down one heck of a hill in this area.  You would never believe it was the same area if before and after pictures were placed side by side.  They also helped with the installation of the roadway.  There will eventually be a bridge over the river, on the left side of the picture, but I didn't feel like building that specific bridge tonight.

Instead, I built this elevated bridge so I wouldn't forget what my intent was with this area...  Shhhh, I'm not giving away the secret quite yet!   Stay tuned!

UPDATE:

Well, I wasn't really in-game yesterday due to working on the radio show but, as mentioned, stuff got done anyway!  So here's an update from the LIVE MAP.  It's getting hard to take screenshots in game and show everything that changed.  haha!

Yup, here we go again!

UPDATE:

Construction has officially begun!  Thanks to 85USMC94 and KillAndSurf the last hill on the island was cut to size and prepared for building.  We put in a staircase, the roadway, and even a little hidden vine cave behind a waterfall.

Once the island terraforming was completed I got to work on the most important building, my mansion!  Hahaha!!  With any luck the construction of this one will be done tonight and I can move on to the other buildings.

I might actually have a few people build some structures if they want to.  I want to make it very "village" like, so I'm gonna need utility structures like a small public library, country diner, etc.

Here we go again!

UPDATE:

Well, thanks to TheOne7142 and KillAndSurf the last remaining island (origionally missed) got cleared tonight.  I also, despite everyone and their mother trying to drag me away, got quite a bit accomplished.

The Mansion:  I ended up finishing the roof of the mansion, and putting in all the floors including the attic.  The main floor still has some walls to go in, but the second floor is complete as far as the actual walls go.  All that's basically left to do is install a few more dividing walls on the first floor and then decorate it up.

The Sword:  Thanks to Trodden, aka the God of Iron and Gold, the sword got a big donation of gold and iron blocks.

The Library:  I started work on the village's Public Library tonight and I actually almost got it 100% complete.  There's a few more decorating details to do and it'll be done.

You know, it's kinda cool that I seem to be averaging one building every day or two.  That said, I got another building constructed and ready to be decorated.  What's that?  Oh, it's just the POLICE STATION!

It's got a jail in the basement, reception on the main level, and will have offices on the upper two floors.  The section that has a bridge going to it is going to be the Chief's office.

Well, a lot has been going on so it's about time I got off my arse and did another;

UPDATE:

By doing some work for D00MKNlGHT I got my hands on some villagers.  Had to transport them over with my own rails, which took a lot of doing, but it was accomplished.  As such I had to build a couple "breeding" buildings for them.  I'll let the pictures help tell the story;

This first picture was actually for a ban appeal, but it just happened I was on my rail at the time.  I had to lay tracks all the way from a villager holding area (now breeder building) to D00MKNlGHT's iron golem farm to get the villagers he agreed to give me.  Sidenote, good job Tech... *LOL*

This second image is the start of my island populating project.  The goal of the project is to give the islands an RP feeling, to make them seem almost "alive".  Once I get a high population I'm going to setup a "cremation trap" (villagers will occasionally commit suicide) so the islands don't get too overpopulated.  I also revamped the breeding center to make it more protected and efficient.  The breeding center has an underground tunnel that leads to the adjacent building so I can keep my breeders safe, but manually eject any surplus and allow them to wander the island.

This third picture shows a house that I built for villagers to hide in.  In addition I built a Multi-Use maintenance building, which does two things.  First, it's interior is filled with doors which gets the breeders "in the mood" and boosts the population.  Second, it has a "trap" at the door which I'll go into more detail in the next picture.  On the outside of the building I put a sign that says "Door Manufacturers", because all you see when you look in it is doors.  *LOL*

The last picture here shows my method for forcing the villagers to spread out around the island.  As mentioned in the last image there is a trap at the door of the Multi-Use building.  Well, that trap transports villagers via an underground water passage to another building on the other side of the islands.  After a lot of testing (and trial and error) the villagers seem to now use this passage all by themselves when the sun goes down and they try to pile into the Multi-Use building.

Grrrr.... I had to fix about 300 blocks of grief today before work.  Thanks to whomever the asshole was who decided that the police station needed an escape tunnel into the river, the walls on my mansion needed knocked out, and the tunnel under my breeding house needed flooding.  I don't know how you got around our block logs, but if I ever catch you you'll be perm banned with no chance of appealing.

...and that's why I need project/city protection.

Last night I had to remove a house and ban a player for building right on the shore of the islands (also suspected x-ray).  Seriously people, I have signs everywhere that says not to build on the islands.  That doesn't mean you can build 2 blocks off shore.  I don't wanna have to remove a bunch of houses after the protection gets approved.
