I made a Blaze Spwaner trap using just glass and fences, works good enough for me.
Yeah u can do it like that, but it takes a much more lenghty process, the one im doing saves time and takes 1 or 2 hits to kill

i <3 redstone, i know a really good system for a blaze farm, can give you XP or just the drops if you want, and a good transportation method for blazes, if you need help , i have a slime farm at my house aswell, and im sure it aint hard to find pistons... along with my double chest of redstone 
I have a little bit of redstone and a sticky piston. I'm in if you want.
