Spider spawners

So, if you compleatly isolate the spawner so it is floating in midair, will it still spawn mobs? I want to know because I will be making a cave spider spawner XP farm.

I think they will still spawn, though, I have only tried with a zombie spawner - which works :). If you still aren't sure, visit (one of my favorite sites  :P) http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki to see the Minecraft Wiki - it might help  ;)

If there is enough darkness, they will spawn. Place much torches in a big area and they will not spawn anymore.
