Plugin Suggestion: HeroChat

Hello all, I just joined and noticed right away how clogged the overworld chat is on here. I thought I might send a suggestion the server's way about a very nice plugin called HeroChat.

I noticed other have suggested things like local chat like in this thread, but I wanted to actually direct you to this specific plugin.

HeroChat lets you create more than just a Local Channel and Overworld channel. It lets you customize it to have more channels and even password protected channels, like for Staff only. This also provides users with the ability to /ignore others they would rather not hear from as well as censorship of naughty words. :)

I have been using HeroChat on a regular basis on another server I frequent and love it. You have to tell people to change channels often, but it still works out very well :) If you would like to read more about it, please click this link to go to their Bukkit thread.

Anyway, I am pretty sure we used to have this, then it got outdated, and removed. We haven't got it back for some reason. (Well, when I say we had this, you could go into private, pink tell conversations).

Actually, I'm just new to the server :) But thank you for the compliment. I have heard this from Logan as well. I believe that this is an effective solution for the amount of people on the server. Smaller server have trouble with this mod due to not enough use usually. It helps filter the nonsense and creates an air of organization. I have not looked, but if this server has an IRC channel, I know of a plugin that was created to work with HeroChat to let people converse with those on the IRC channel through the game and vice versa.

The IRC for SMP is currently disabled I believe, however, IRC for classic is working fine. On classic, people who go on IRC can communicate with players in game and the players will respond back.

We did have the HeroChat plugin at least a month ago, but it was taken off because it is no longer being updated by its developers.
