Just wanted some clarity on protection stones. If you have silk touch does that mean you mine protection stones or are they different blocks technically and the code inside them is different but look the same???

anyway I think you can not mine the stones but my real question is why

You currently cannot mine coal, lapis, or diamond resource blocks with silk touch. They will only drop the resource items, like it was a normal pickaxe.

You have to pay using the server's in-game economy to get protection stones from the /warp market.

Redstone cannot be mined for its blocks as well, since it is a 'reserved' block. It will only drops its redstone dust.
