I was told minecarts were disabled because of lag issues. IS this true?

This is, in fact, true. Like boats, the minecarts received the same treatment from the recent patch update and are therefore temporarily disabled from use on this server until a fix can be found. They can still be crafted and placed, but not ridden.

Im not Xeadin, but I would assume so. But, I don't think its top priority ;)

I am not the administration, but I would say that this is low on their list of priorities
