1.2 Update problems I have seen so far.

Would it have something to do with the world height being changed?
I'm not sure if the Nether height was changed though.

Items are also not grouping up like they used too this might fix the fauto farm problems as well.

I don't know if this is a 1.2 bug or what. Now I can't destroy my minecarts. It says "you don't have permission to destroy vehicles here." I'm not in a PS area so I thought it may be related to 1.2

I am having the melon problem as well. When I first logged on after the update, all my plants had produced, but now refuse to grow anything. I've waited a solid half hour (the maximum amount of time it should take) and nothing has happened.
