The game was fully released, that is not abandoning the game. he just moved onto a different game.

The only big thing is the mod API early next year... Nothing else that I know of.

I find this to be a critical step rather than to be a lovable step.

While Notch started Minecraft, after there were more people on the job Notch was less and less active on making stuff and tweaking stuff on the server.

In my opinion, this is a real great step in moving on.
