Many literature enthusiasts would argue that the short story is superior to the novel. Short stories focus on a single event, thus allowing for far greater realism than a novel which must manufacture conflicts to maintain interest.

I disagree. I like reading (I really loved it when I was younger, stopped reading as much now (No time...)) but I don't like short stories. I find them too unsatisfying. This is why I love series of books, and I love fantasy books, where it is a whole new world to discover. I also like historical books on that note, and a bit of si-fi on the side (same reason as fantasy. Try reading this book called the Algebraist) , but BOOKS <3
