Wom Direct now supported

If you are an OP, Crafter, or admin, you will will not be able to use the wom connect direct. This is to prevent security breaches. Hope this will help the rest of you however!

BTW - The "Direct connect" Box will work for all as usual - this just refers to the new list on the wom client they are providing.

Question though, what makes the direct connect box in the front different from the direct connect server listing? Is it the fact that the front uses the Minecraft authentication while the listed one uses WoMs own authentication?

Kind of. The direct connect in front of the client is literally just that. You connect straight to the server, with the username/mppass you provide.

The new list is managed by WOM, and they tell you the mppass you need to connect to the server, and then your client will connect using that. The mppass is generated by creating an md5hash of the private salt and your username. The salt is known only by the server, and WOM.

Oh okay I see, and now I understand why that can be a security threat, since authentication could be faked if someone found out how to get into WoM. Thanks for clearing that up.

Another question though, how does the quick connect work for opticraft? (the mc://play.opticraft.net:9999/<username>/autoconnect one)
How is the mppass found there, since it's not directly in the url as it is in the other direct connects.
