that doesnt ruining anything terre you just have to go to the nether and find a suitable spot and then set up a portal there and the people who will work/help with it can set up a small town/village in the ne wportal spot so we have easy access to the city with no walls

we will get a steady supply of stone, wood ccan be gathered by me and iron..... that's the biggest problem...



as for the portal, we first need obsidian :P
