A ventrilo for Opticraft?
« on: April 05, 2011, 01:16:57 am »
So I for one, despise typing in Minecraft. The overflooding of that white text just hurts my eyes ];
I have decided that if enough people decide to join, i would start a ventrilo and control it myself. Im sure most admins and such enjoy the IRC, but still, talking seems to be more fluent and easy for me. I personally think that if you have a mic, and can talk instead of typing, we could reduce the "chat lag" that happens every now and then and be able to communicate with our fellow peers. Just a thought.

If there is demand for voice chat, i will glady host a mumble server for everyone to use. Mumble is a free, open source alternative to Ventrillo and Teamspeak, which is actively developed and is generally better then the proprietary alternatives. It would also cost me nothing, as we have spare bandwidth on the VPS, and the server software isn't too taxing on other resources.

tldr; I can set up a mumble server if you guys will use it!

I'd prefer Mumble as a official voice chat.

Alright, i will set up a mumble server and if it is popular, we'll keep it around.

Will bump this topic when its ready, which will be either tonight or in the next 2 days. Probably tonight.

Alright, mumble.opticraft.net is the server. I am pretty clueless with mumble, so this shall be a learning process.

Will need mumble admins if both morten and relkeb dont want to take care of maintaining it or if we need help.
