I prefer Command+Shift+4, it saves it to the desktop. Then you just drag and drop into imgur,

I'm not a Mac user so I quickly googled the hotkey and hoped it was right, but that hotkey sounds much better =p

I is, I think I found the same page that you did, I tried all the hot keys and like that one the most.
