There was a glitch at the time where wolves were completely broken. They didn't remain sitting when you left an area. They just teleported to you and started following you again once you got far enough away. They were also immune to some types of damage, like lava lol. So since they refused to stay at home, i just let them loaf in the lava while i mined. Seemed like fair punishment.
