well that blows, i was really looking forward to using it >.<

oh well it seems 44:7 is going to become the quarts slab, though tbh i wouldn't mind having those added in anyway.

if anyone's curious what the quarts slabs/block look like it's this:
(click to show/hide)

this really is a shame, it would've been a nice cheap alternative to iron blocks, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll add them back in for the official release

The block that you want to add to the market has already changed. I had some placed in metropolis but now they are nether bricks. I wish they didn't change it

actually in the current release (1.4.7?) they're still obtainable.

my guess is you obtained them before nether brick slabs were introduced, at that time they had a different block id think it was 44:6 and since they added those it got bumped to 44:7 and nether brick took over 44:6

unfortunately with 1.5 they're revamping the way blocks work, used to be one big sprite sheet for everything now each block will have it's own, and this seems to do away with the block for good since it hasn't been recreated as of snapshot 12w02a...

im still hopeful that they might add it back in, however unlikely it may be.....

yeah it now has the same id as the nether brick half slab, also it has been known to cause certain problems (dont ask me why :P) so instead of fixing it, they took the easy way out and made it unobtainable with crafting

actually it's about a block that is obtainable at the moment, but will be unobtainable come 1.5

so it is kinda useful...... till 1.5.... at which point it probably wont be very useful  :P

Just posting this to get the word out...

The "smooth full half-slab", that once was 43:6 and then 43:7, is now 43:8 and will remain so. The block is (from my perspective at least) a bug, but I realize it is a very popular one so that's why we're adding this special case.

What the code does now is that if the top bit is set (data values from 8 to 15), the full half-slab will pick the top texture for all 6 sides. This also means there's a smooth sandstone block (43:9). Other variants either already use the top texture (such as for quartz), or don't have a special top texture (such as for bricks).

that is awesome news, so i guess this post is valid again  ;D

of course we now need to wait for 1.5 but that's not a big deal.

since we're at it, apparently this type of block will be available for some of the other half slabs as well. after some testing to figure out which ones are actually different lets consider adding them as well?
