they're enabled and considered 'plugged in'. The link was cool, but after about 3 pages of nothing helpful, I stopped.
EDIT: I just opened my skype by accident(clicked the wrong thing) and PRESTO! my sound fixed!!
EDIT #2: now only my skype sounds work. Nothing else.

Do you have steam or something? If you get teamviewer I could take a look at the problem for you.
I don't know what the solution to this could be without knowing the details of your hardware.
