And some animals are too many and hostile mobs should be a little less too I guess.

Technically, I have found by witness, is cows and other animals spawn on land that isn't built on. Otherwise they would be known as "house cows," if they don't spawn on fresh land.

Tobs:
Just saying, there aren't giant spawn eggs. They can only be spawned in using commands.
