Sounds like it could work, but how deep were you planning on building this? Because thats an awful lot of sand if its really deep.

Guys? you will need about 30 stacks of sand each time.
Once you make 2 walls, you remove the external, and you go all the way to the center. So, if you do it in the 4 sides, within a huge box of cobble that leater will be removed, its easy.
I could saw you the way in 10 mins, when you find the spot.

It's called a coffer dam.
The problem with that though is, we don't want to have to replace all the water afterwards. It's easier to just get some respiration helms, then place dirt/gravel/sand/whatever in the shape of the building we desire.

Thats why you build a area go up breath go down work go up again and again once a Square eg is built remove all water in side by placeing dirt or something covering that area then ever if it gets a hole in the side it wont flood...
