General Discussion / Bye!
« on: July 05, 2011, 05:20:56 am »
I like Opticraft. Lot of people, lot of really impressive projects, lot of incredible builders. But, after some consideration, I've decided it's not for me. I don't regret donating $50 (although it would have been nice to at least get a thank-you e-mail) because this is a pretty solid community and I'm happy to help keep it going. To me, this place seems too uptight. I get the feeling that people are searching for something to be offended by. I've had a few people fly off the handle at me for merely giving my opinion. Anyway, I've moved on to a different server. I've got more room and a full set of build commands, so I'm happy. If anyone wants to visit, its the 24/7 Official MCStorm Server.

Changed my mind!

Thanks :)

Also, if I'm accepted, can we start a new Builder world? The current Builder doesn't have nearly enough room for the scale of project I have in mind.

Elementalist tower: Dual-chambered, floats on symmetrical obsidian spires that rise out of lava. Portals to elemental planes. Or something like that.

BANHAMMER: My gift to the Operators, may you find peace within.

Abstract 001: A structure made out of 16x 5x5 squares that move around in symmetrical patterns.

What worlds are the creations on:

Most are in the back right corner of Recruit. One is in the back left corner of Member.

Projects / Massive Community Maze
« on: June 30, 2011, 05:13:13 pm »
Here's a fun idea:

Get a few maze builders together and make an absolutely massive maze, chunk by chunk. Kind of like the longcat collages, but a maze, not a longcat.

Each chunk will be, say 151 x 151 x 3 and have a single entrance and exit, on opposite sides, so it goes on forever into the distance. With a standardized design scheme it should grow seemlessly into the horizon.

I'm new here so is it possible for a new world to be created for this, if the critical mass of interest is achieved? Recruit level and up seems appropriate.

Inevitability is the force which draws me here. Or, it's what happens when a creative gamer gets bored with all the carefully fenced in and choreographed titles. You get the illusion of a mountain in the distance or a city over the horizon, but you can't go there, explore, or build your own.

Hooray, minecraft.

I've been playing survival mode for a few months now and have had to abandon a few projects because I don't have the time to mine an inventory full of cobble just to build the next floor :(

I had a blast in the guest rooms, even though a few people decided to tunnel through my projects. Apparently its safer to build in the air. Tonight I'll put together a properly massive building in single player classic to use as my membership request project.
