Introduction
Today we would like to introduce to you our new server currently in development; OptiQuest!
OptiQuest is a complex MMORPG Minecraft server. We have been working on this for quite some time as it's a very big undertaking for us all. We are using custom plugins wherever we can, making it a unique experience from other servers. This also gives us complete control and creative freedom over how the server works, and makes things like bug fixing a lot faster and more efficient.

OptiQuest Team
These are the people that are making the development of OptiQuest possible.
We're currently a very small team, but are planning on expanding in the future.

Developers: Nick3306, xDeeKay
Builders: TheWholeLoaf, Tobs74, 100Penguin, UnknownHedgehog, Astriii, Tiggy, Fireball4801
Staff: AliciaMai

Current and Future Features
Availability
When will this be available? Great question, and the answer is we really don’t know. As stated above, this is a very large project for us, and we all have lives outside of Minecraft. Currently the server is in heavy development stages, however we plan to have an alpha version of the server out somewhere around spring for people to help us test. In the mean time, we plan to share a few videos and posts of various things throughout the development process, ranging from time lapses of some builds, to a sneak peak at the code behind all this awesomeness.

Please stay tuned as we have a lot in-store over the coming months. Discussions and questions are always welcome, and we hope you're all excited as we are for the things to come!

There are no plans for this right now, a lot of the default textures fit nicely as it is!

If you guys ever need me to assist you in anything related to filming/editing video and audio I'd me more than happy to help!

A texture pack would be cool at some point but tons of more important stuff still need to be done.

That isn't what that double part means >.>

Lol I like your optimism but a double is a data type used to hold numbers that are not always going to be integers (like 17.25).

Well then… Was not expecting to find this when I was looking for an update about the new update…………………………………

Aaaaaanyway, what a thing to announce! This will certainly be… interesting. I haven't been on the main SMP server in a while, though this might be out of the blue for anyone else just as much as for me.

This looks awesome! Makes me want to come back ;). Looks like you guys are doing an awesome job so far. Props to those great builders and those skilled devs! Wish I could do what you guys can. Good luck with the rest of the server development and can't wait to see the finished product.

We are well aware how much benefit a custom resource pack would be. It just isn't high on the priorities list right now.

What Nick said. Before we introduce a resource pack there will likely be placeholder items like this, just something in place that looks (ever so slightly) what the item is supposed to be with the limitations of vanilla textures.

I know coding something like this takes time, but how often will we get updates for this? Just curious, as anyone who has the nerve to ask such a question.

Updates won't be very frequent I'm afraid, however I can reveal that we are working very hard to get all the coding and building done in reasonable time for the alpha release. Please don't be afraid to ask however. Personally I think a teaser screenshot or something every so often isn't unreasonable. Opinions Loaf, Toby, Nick?

Indeed, the opening map for alpha release is 3/4 way done, but the map will never be complete, it'll be expanded upon for new releases in the future.

This seems really interesting. I like the idea. Keep it up! I would really like to start joining you guys again. Miss the community. Also, if you ever need help building, I did work for multiple professional build teams that did builds for money. I can show pictures, also have references.

We had hoped that it would be done this month, however, school has taken its toll on how much time we can put into this. We want it to be good, not half assed, so we are delaying the alpha release until this coming spring.

A lot more updates will start rolling in after class ends for most of us in the next few months.
