My apologies for the downtime this weekend - had a chain of issues, and I went away for a few days.
To remedy this, I have written a script to automatically reboot the server every 12 hours, which should mean that if there ever is a deadlock while I am away/asleep, there is a good chance it will resolve itself automatically. Unfortunately the software we are using is very buggy, and until these issues are resolved, this band-aid fix will have to do.
Once again, sorry - I know and understand how frustrating it is when your server goes down and you cannot play. I will continue to try to improve the service for all.

Thanks for the reseting software it helped a little but we are still facing some lag.
I hope you change the vps hoster :)

Remember guys, this is only a test server, so it probably will be laggy for a while. I have no idea what Classic was like when it was this new, but I doubt it was as lag free as today. ;)

Couldn't you just have another file running, and when the server goes offline, have that file restart the server?

This is already in place. Doesn't help with deadlocks or out of memory exceptions. Also, "File" - I thought you were a programmer? ;)

Rank up for classic or beta?
If it is beta, you can't get ranked up unless you meet the admins often and they trust you enough to make you trusted. Also, do not ask for promotions, the Admins don't really like it, I think.

The server crashed or went down last night at about 5am or so GMT.
But this is the SMP server thread, so make a new topic or something if you want to talk about it, please. :)
