We've been getting quite a few new guests recently and I think we should add 'welcome playername' to the server so it alerts everyone that the person is new and it might help them get talking quicker as I've just seen guests come and go, it might help them stay if they feel more welcome :)
-
Well, I kind of act like that already when I'm online lol.
Otherwise, this is a good idea and I'd like it to be implemented.
-
Given with how welcoming some users are, this idea would even help more. It may boost for how long some people may stay, you never know.
-
I like this idea. It makes the new player feel more comfortable and loved on the server instead of joining and just listening to our conversations, getting no recognition whatsoever.

Unless I'm on :D

This is a great idea, more people would play the server and it would be more fun!-hi45070

I thought this has been suggested before by Mattkkk12345?

A lot of people have actually suggested this.
I support this, but I want to add you can type /list and try helping out with getting the guests to talk.
-
How many times has this been suggested lol. Do it already!

I humiliated myself thrice when I assumed some guests are new when they are already established and just haven't signed up.

Lol, happens to me as well

great idea and this is a way for us to know for sure its someone's first time on server. we could even make the text a different colour to stand out, sort of like how Cora has to send me a private msg so its in pink and I see it otherwise it could just get lost in the normal conversation that I may or may not be paying attention to. :)

I agree with this. Though, I remember when I was new the chat was at its peak and i said hello i am new no one said amything. A while ago two newbies came on called godlydemon (I think) and I died then met them at spawn. They messaged in thr chat frequently askin for help but no one said anything so i pm them an provided them with a plot. So it just goes to show that new people are ignored and then we lose them.

Come on, add this already!
-
I support this idea. You'll be surprised as to what it takes to keep a new player around. A simple welcome from the server and it's players can make someone fit in right away.
-
This was suggested before and it got a lot of support but it was never added and I'm not sure why because this would be such a nice thing to have.

To add onto this, until the welcome is actually added it would be helpful if players could learn to type /list often and try and see if any new guests have joined and welcome them.
-
If/when we get console access, i'll add this.
-
I'm going to.tell you what Loafy told me, it's better to let them introduce them thierselves. One issue with that is they do it in local too much and they quit the server because of no attention. I.know it is their fault for not reading the rule book, but maybe put the player in global chat when they first join, or give them a notification telling them about the chat types. :)
-
Not really what I said. I was saying its better to have the community welcome the player, rather than an auto command. But, if this could be rigged to only welcome someone on their first visit, then it would be much more beneficiary.
-
It should only say welcome on their first visit so people notice, people either grief or leave now days tbh I think this should be added ^_^
-
I think it should also automatically set there chat to global
-
I agree that there should be a welcome message, but automatically setting their chat to global would encourage spam. Perhaps a part of said message would be along the lines of "welcome to Opticraft, type /ch g to talk" Most people who want to spam won't read this, therefore it would be neutralised but it would eliminate confusion for sooooo many people that ask how to talk :P

Sorry for the necropost but...
If/when we get console access, i'll add this.
I have, as of today, unrelated to this topic, given Tobs & Nick console access, which in time would at the very least empower them to make changes to improve things, however as Nick said, this is not necessarily why they became admins, so don't expect it of them.
this should happen :) (sorry to bring this back up)
-
Indeed it should ^_^
-
Yes the admins have access to the console now, but they don't know how to use it since it's not written like a normal console.
