Title: SMP IRC is back

Server IP: smp.opticraft.net

Hi,

Our SMP IRC relay is back online. You can chat with players in the global channel ingame on irc on rizon, #opticraft-smp.
You will need a client such a mirc, or use rizons webchat (http://qchat.rizon.net/?channels=opticraft-smp&uio=d4). The server IP is irc.rizon.net, and channel #opticraft-smp
We will look at adding a webchat at a later stage.

Special mention to AwesomeAlicia for constant reminding.

Yes!!!! Its back!!!

I guess Alicia's nagging and my "bringing back smp irc" thread has paid off.

It looks awesome but my only complaint as of now is colored names don't show. Otherwise I really don't care. I could survive without the colors but maybe that can be something we can add to it later.

I think there should be nothing to complain about, it's fine the way it is. Otherwise, if there were colors, it would look kind of weird and hard to recognize when the chat line is said from IRC or in-game.

IRC is "Internet Relay Chat" which is basically you can talk on servers even when you're not online.

When I said that, I meant the colors in game. If classic irc can do it, why can't smp irc? Its not confusing at all there. We can see who is recruit and who is operator on classic for example. As of now, everyone is just one color (black text).

I meant this suggestion as a future one. I don't honestly care that much about it now. I'm happy that smp irc is up in the first place. So, ya...

I've updated it with some of your suggestions. Colours from game -> irc are now in. Same conversion as with classic./me will not be echo'ed to the game, it will only be seen on IRC.
Added a couple commands for mods to manage the channel from ingame, such as banning kicking, unbanning and completly muting the interface.

Why are so many spammers/bots posting when optical posted about IRC?  Whatever it is, IRC is attracting them to post here.

No, we get those a lot and we have been for the past several months, it's not because of IRC, I can guarantee it.

There are usually way more than 2 a day, it may or may not have anything to do with this post. We usually deal with the spam posts before you even notice, since there's one of you and many staff.

So I'm reporting another issue i have with smp irc. It seems that if you send more than 2 lines of text (minimum of 3), the lines of text automatically double and get posted twice in game. I've gotten in trouble with mods who think I'm trying to spam intentionally when I'm really not trying to. It's hard for me sometimes to post less than 3 lines. I'm a very talkative person.

here's an example of what happens in game (I know the repeated lines aren't 3 lines of text long but I didn't actually want to type out 3 lines. I'm sure you will get the point anyways):

I hope this can be fixed. Maybe I'm the only one with the issue but i don't like to be wrongly judged as a spammer when i don't realize that I have typed 3 lines of text, which replicate themselves.

Ahh I think that was me that said it as a joke as I was aware of this issue before hand.

The port for all IRC servers/ services are the same (default port 6667)

I suggest using qchat1.rizon.net because that server will not force you to restart your client often. Regular qchat.rizon.net is not very stable.
